DK Burnaby started and sold his first company out of college. After moving to the Pacific Northwest, DK entered the corporate tech world and spent over 25 years leading hyper-growth at top tier tech logos and startups alike. He has held leadership positions at Amazon, SAP Concur, Tableau, Redfin, and multiple startups. In his last corporate role, he served as COO and CPO for a Starbucks backed AI and ML driven customer engagement platform, which he saw through to acquisition. A serial entrepreneur, he has founded four companies in multiple industries through the course of his career. With a strong blend of People, Talent, and Operations experience, DK serves as both CEO of FractWorks and as a fractional CPO and COO to some of FractWorks' clients.

Melanna Carroll began her education and career in the mental health field, following her passion of understanding and helping others. She later obtained her MBA and has dedicated the past twenty years to helping organizations cultivate high performance cultures and unlock the peak potential of their talent. She has held leadership roles at multiple market-defining companies such as Forrester and DraftKings, as well as high-growth startups. Her career has included several tours of duty as the Head of People and Chief People Officer. She is an executive coach, leadership trainer, and strategic business partner and trusted advisor. Melanna serves at FractWorks' Chief People Officer and as a fractional CPO, coach, and advisor for Fractworks' clients.
Having successfully led massive growth through multiple booms and bombs, DK and Melanna had mastered the art of scaling companies. They had seen the rise and fall of mega-funded Unicorns and the effects of the blank check at the next big FANG/MANGA endeavor. They also saw startups struggle under the pressure to grow -- often for the sake of growth -- and suffer the consequences of scaling inefficiently and unsustainably with diffuse direction. After spending a year restructuring the last startup he was part of to bring costs down by over 75% and rebuilding with a combination of fractional leadership, near-shore technical teams, and thoughtful outsourcing, DK realized that there was a better path for most startups and small businesses. After a combined 50 years of experience buliding teams, they discovered that many of their highly regarded past employees and colleagues had reached a place in their career where they were best suited to part-time work while they freed themselves up for other pursuits. Pulling together an all-star cast, many of whom shared experience in the trenches of companies like Amazon, Meta, and other major success stories, FractWorks was born.
